St. Andrews’ Culinary Leader Wins National Award for Excellence

Sabine Dessau, a Culinary & Nutrition Services Director at St. Andrews Estates, received the prestigious 2022 Director of Dining Services of Year Award, presented by the Senior Dining Association.

Residents and employees praise Sabine for her creativity, positive, can-do attitude, and ability to adapt to challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic. Under her leadership, the culinary team took pride in decadent, delicious cooked-to-order cuisine, staff donned fun food-related costumes for special themed days centered on national holidays, and residents took part in  interactive educational displays to celebrate diversity and inclusion.

The Director of Dining Services of the Year award was presented during the Senior Dining Association’s Synergy Senior Dining and Hospitality Conference in Orlando, Florida. Read more about Sabine's accomplishments here.

“Acts has a mission of Loving-Kindness and no one exhibits it more than Sabine does,” said Jonathan Pinsker, Acts Southeast Regional Director of Culinary & Nutritional Services. “This is a person who is truly loved by all.”

Sabine began her career at the Boca Raton, Florida community at age 15 as a server. She later left the United States to be with family in Lebanon and Paris. In 2012, she returned “home” to St. Andrews Estates as an assistant director in culinary services and in 2019, promoted to her director role.
