This week, Lanier Village Estates was featured in the Gainesville Times for continuing its long-held annual tradition of the Gingerbread House display on campus. Earlier in the month, for about one week, a small handful of Culinary staff spent about one week arranging fondant icing, powered sugar and gingerbread, into a beautiful 6 x 4-foot display, for the community to enjoy.
This year’s theme was a classic “Christmas in the Country” motif, and special attention was paid to every detail to bring the theme to life. From the iced-over country lake, appearing a glistening blue, to Rudolph’s red nose, these artists nailed it.
Lanier Village Estates Culinary staff and gingerbread artists extraordinaire, Alex Connell and Flavia Campos, were interviewed by the Times for this story. Photojournalist Scott Rogers contributed photos of the icing constructs.
