Kathy and Mike Pinzone embarked on a new chapter in their lives, moving from the familiar grounds of Fox Hill Farms to the vibrant community of Lima Estates, in Media, Pennsylvania, in September 2022. Today, they call it the "best decision we ever made."
Kathy, a retired healthcare professional, witnessed firsthand the ordeals families go through when loved ones fail to plan for the future. The Pinzones view their move to Lima Estates as an investment in their well-being, a decision that would alleviate the burden on their children and ensure a future of care and security.
"We did not want our children to worry," Kathy said. "Moving to Lima Estates when we're active and healthy, we knew we would be cared for if we needed it later."
Mike added, "We didn't want our children to have to ask, 'what should we do with mom and dad?' It’s very appealing to move in now, and be able to access better care, another level of care, if it were ever necessary. That was important to me."
The Pinzones explored five different continuing care retirement communities before choosing Lima Estates. The Media, Pennsylvania, community immediately won them over with its friendly atmosphere and comfortable ambiance.
And perhaps most surprising, Kathy said she is more busy and active than she had been at her old home with more opportunities for social engagement. "We're making many new friends, and are actually more involved at Lima Estates than we had been living at Fox Hill Farms," she said.
"I don't think we've realized how much fun we were going to have, she added, "And the new friends and the new associations that we have created by living in an Acts community."
The Pinzones keep a busy social calendar living at Lima Estates, and enjoy traveling without worry to Florida each winter. Living in an Acts community offers them the flexibility to be more independent and active, and without the constant responsibilities and burdens of home ownership, the couple has more time to enjoy life!

"Most people told us is don't wait too long to move in. The older you are, of course, the shorter amount of time you're actually going to have to benefit from all that an Acts community has to offer to you," he said.
"It was a decision that not only financially, but physically and emotionally," Mike said, "It really put us into the best place possible to be well cared for and secure."
