Residents and Acts leadership gathered at Matthews Glen for a remarkable celebration to mark the completion of its transformative $59 million expansion. The event encapsulated gratitude, excitement, and a shared vision for the community’s future.
The festivities were nothing short of spectacular. Attendees were treated to a gourmet spread that included savory scallops, crab, decadent desserts, and an impressive ice sculpture display. This jubilant atmosphere, and live music, inspired residents to take to the dance floor.
The expansion adds significant new offerings to Matthews Glen’s already remarkable campus. This project includes 72 luxurious independent living apartments and 16 elegant villas. The independent living apartments feature expansive floor plans up to 1,785 square feet, with modern amenities like high ceilings, well-equipped kitchens, and an abundance of natural light. The duplex-style villas, each spanning 2,500 square feet, come with open floor plans and a variety of contemporary features. Residents will also enjoy new outdoor recreational amenities, such as brand-new tennis and pickleball courts.
In addition, Matthews Glen expanded OakBridge Terrace, its assisted living community, adding 40 new suites to provide more than 95 residences. The expansion reinforces Matthews Glen’s commitment to providing a continuum of care on its expansive 124-acre campus, where residents can seamlessly transition from independent living to assisted living and skilled care as their healthcare needs evolve.
Matthews Glen, a cherished fixture of the Matthews, NC, community since 1988, has grown steadily over the years and now serves around 900 residents. This latest expansion highlights the community’s dedication to enhancing residents’ quality of life while embracing modern living options. The expansion has welcomed 153 new residents, not only from the Charlotte area but also from states as far away as Arizona, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Michigan, and Florida.
