Today, Matthews Glen was featured in local Matthews newspaper Matthews Mint-Hill Weekly for hosting its first-annual 5K event.
More than 100 residents, staff and family members woke up early on this Friday morning to walk and run a 3-mile course set up on the campus of Matthews Glen.
Created in support of the Alzheimer's Association's "The Longest Day" fundraising event for research and awareness related to the disease. The event has raised more than $13,600 dollars for the cause, and the number is still rising through donations. Mayor of Matthews Paul Bailey personally attended the event, briefly addressing the crowd and thanking them for their participation in the cause benefitting Alzheimer's awareness.
